A BILL to amend the Code of West Virginia, 1931, as amended, by adding thereto a new section, designated §6B-3-12 relating to prohibiting elected state officials from becoming a lobbyist for two years after their term of office expires.

Be it enacted by the Legislature of West Virginia:
That the Code of West Virginia, 1931, as amended, be amended by adding thereto a new section, designated §6B-3-12, to read as follows:
ARTICLE 3. LOBBYISTS.
§6B-3-12. Waiting period for elected state officials.
No elected state official shall lobby, register as a lobbyist or be employed by a lobbyist before two years after the expiration of his or her term of office.





NOTE: The purpose of this bill is to prohibit elected state officials from lobbying before two years after their term of office expires.
